I liked the manga for Ayashi no Ceres, much better than Fushigi Yuugi. The plot is just really fresh. It made me really interested, and I like Aya as a character 300 times more than Miaka. Ceres is a really awesome character too. One of the few REALLY strong female roles in Anime and Manga. They took out one of my favorite characters in the Animated version though so I was sorely disappointed, they rushed it and didn't put in all of the really great plot twists. It was a let down after being so excited for it. (I have the Hong Kong Release and the first DVD of the american release)

I liked the Anime for Fushigi Yuugi better even if I didn't like the main characters as much. It was far more thorough(sp), and then they even elaborated with the OAV's. (and omakes) I really wish they would have let Watase-sensee do her whole series. None the less, it was FABULOUS seeing the characters I like come to life in the Anime. ^.^ I love Yuuhi!

Ayashi gets my vote!!

I hate FY's Miyaka!! She is totally eerrrrrr....
She's too annoying with her high pitch voice and nagging...etc...

I like other characters better than her!!

Also, FY's story dragged on abit too long.... especially the OVAs!! The manga was too long as well.... took me awhile to finish them all...

Ayashi's short and sweet!!! Even though the anime left out bits and pieces... but still, it's not that bad!

Ayashi No Ceres is a more serious and dark series - compared to Fushigi Yuugi.

personally i like both storylines - very interesting ^^;; i like fantasy/mythical-legend themes.

the animation of Ayashi is better of course but the music compilation, i will have to give it to F.Y (Ayashi had nice music also, but overall F.Y. OST and BGM are better in my opinion).

:hehe: i've always like the side-characters better too ^^;; it's true that Aya, personality-wise is not as irritating as Miaka - but then again, she's not exactly my favorite character either

and Imadoki! Yuu Watase-sensei's new manga series ^^;;
has anyone else checked it out yet? (yes, i know you have ^FallenAngel^ ) ....if so, what do u think of Tanpopo?
personally, i find her kind of annoying - somewhere in between Miaka and Aya (more leaning towards Miaka though >.<) but the series however, is not bad.

Fukiya Yuma: I totally agree! Yuuhi is adorable! Him and Tasuki (F.Y) have to be my ultimate fav. characters from both series'.

The concept for Ayashi No Ceres was interesting, though overdone with the dramatic, opera plot thrown in.. I'd go with fushigi yuugi... i like the slapstick humor and the way they would occasionally try to cheer each other up when times go bad.
