*SPOILERS* questions about the ending...
Are they gonna make OS2? And why wont the MacDougal brothers just go away? And what happened to Mel? And where can I buy some casters?

Yes, they are the cool bad guys, she was aware of herself now, and they are fictional weapons…

I'm sure I saw some casters at the local store. I think it was called Toys R Us or something. Dammit.

I fail to see the humor in it…

Are you kidding? An OS II? My gosh, why don't we say that everyone dies because of the 3rd Impact in Evangelion. There, that settles it.

That's what happens. I know, this is OS, but really, another series of OS? Please. I mean, I love OS, but I liked how it ends and to leave it at that.

Ah... pruning the crap. My second favorite job next to watching anime like a madman. But seriously, I say that one can't get too much of a good series. If Sunrise saw fit to make a new Outlaw Star story arc, then sure, I'll watch it. I'll probably enjoy it, too.
I have learned, after watching anime for over 5 years, to simply accept a series for what it is. Sure it's good, and actually quite healthy, to give a series critical analysis and to think about what one actually got out of watching it, but one must also realize that the producers of the series are the ones who ultimately decide how it will progress. If they say "Hey, Outlaw Star was cool, but another one would be just as good, and probably bring in just as much money" then by golly, they're probably going to make another series. In my opinion, additions to any series, unless absolutely horriffic changes to basic plot lines are added, are very welcome.
But I rant. Anyway, that's my two yen on the rumored new Outlaw Star series.
Peace!

The McDougall's proved to be quite the enemy. Just when you think they're dead, they're back. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the crew of the OLS met up with them again. They may even work together.
Plus the ending left it soooo open for a sequel. Agree?

Well, I strongly doubt they would team up… With the grudges and all…
But the McDougals will be back…

The ending did say something along the lines of "see you again," so I'm not surprised at all. Rather pleased, actually. I really like the series (just ordered the first coll. on DVD), so more OS is a good thing.

They WERE going to make an OS II but plans are now on hold indefinitely. I don't know where you got all that info about them going to college or whatever but I think it's totally wrong. I got it from a FEW very reliable sources that due to lack of demand in Japan, plans for OS II are on hold indefinitely. I could of course be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure of my info.
As for the ending, I personally loved it. I'd like to see more Outlaw Star but if there is none, I'm satisfied.
