Tamahome's Seiyuu
I actually wasn't very interested in seeing Fushigi Yuugi when Ben, my anime -----, bought the first tape. After all, I had already used him for Escaflowne and was currently sucking DNA^2 right out of his bone marrow. But I still took the video with me as revenge for all the hideous hours I had to spend being his girlfriend. (I'm a twisted individual)
Now we come to the point. What is wrong with Tamahome's Japanese seiyuu? He sounds like he's talking through his nose and a kazoo at the same time. Does he have some sort of weird nostril condition?
Of course, because they're idiots, whoever is in charge decided to have Tamahome's seiyuu sing his character's single, Ai to iu Na no Tatakai ni or "Love is Called the Name Assault" which, in my opinion, was a huge mistake. The fellow has an annoying voice while speaking. Singing to the accompaniment of a bunch of bossa nova wannabe jackasses and some trumpets did not improve his voice in any way.
Normally, the dubbing of an anime makes the character's voice worse. But if that's the case, I never, ever want to see Fushigi Yuugi dubbed, because Tamahome's voice can't, to my knowledge, get worse. And if it can, I don't want to find out.
Counter this if you can. You know his Japanese voice grates.

You mean Hikaru Midorikawa? He's one of the more famous male seiyuus in anime. Besides Tamahome he's done Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing, Zelgadis from Slayers and Rukawa from Slam Dunk among others. I actually like his voice. It's very subtle and smooth. He was one of the guests at Otakon and his voice sounded fine to me. Even when he did character requests

Hey don't knock Midorikawai Hikaru. I love his voice for Tamahome. He's kakkoii!
Though Takehito Koyasu is a god! The ultimate bishonen voice actor I've ever known XD~~~~~
Ahem, anyways, back on topic...
What's wrong with Hikaru's voice???

Eh, I just didn't like the nasal thing going on. And you have to admit, that song is very, very, very bad. So very catchy. Yes. Bad and catchy.

Eh. I like his voice, even when he's singing. He's my favorite seiyuu. Koyasu Takehito isn't too far behind, but Midorikawa Hikaru is my fave male seiyuu.
...although Inuyasha's seiyuu is quickly catching up to the both of them....

Hikarus's also my fave male seiyuu next to Seki Tomokazu!
Although, I don't like Hikaru's singing either (LOL, except in that Slayers episode where Lina and Amelia have to repeat what he sings...that was funny )

Hikaru-sama...*bwink* is an extremely popular voice actor in Japan, 'cause his voice is different and kewl~ and I like his songs too ^^; He's also know for having excellent control over his voice, making it sound perfect for many roles ^^ He's my third fav. seiyuu, just behind Kaneto Shiozawa and Seki Toshihiko ^_^

Midorikawa is cool and he is a good actor. I loved the scene where he has trying to imagine how his(Tamahome) family died. Unfortunately, I didn't like his singing as Tamahome at all. Didn't he play Tokiya Mikagami in Flame of Recca as well?

yep...
Erm... anyhoo, Hikaru-san's voice is widely recognized in the seiyuu field... but I really have no liking to his voice. I respect that it has distinct characteristics, but overall, I take no liking to his voice....as Tamahome. I like his voice much better in other roles

It's really that song that makes me want to scream in frustration and yet somehow entices me to dance about the house in my underwear.

I can play that song on any instrument. Any instrument.
I love Midorikawa, although I think his voice must be an accquired taste...oO;; I love his singing, and I loved his voicing of Schuldich and Zel AND Tamahome. He is just...great. I mean, you should hear the stuff he did with E.M.U ...

The dubbed voice for Tamahome is also the VA for Solid Snake from Matal Gear Solid.
