Picking up thread from elsewhere and thought this movie was worth it's own thread (although I haven't looked elsewhere to look for another).
Takahata's movie, based on an award-winning story by Akiyuki Nosaka, is indeed a very harrowing film; Not one for a family gathering, it is a film you will go back to again and again.
You will grow to love Setsuko and her Older brother Seita as they struggle against an unseen enemy.
A film, beautiful in its innocence and horrific in its execution; a masterpiece!
