Unhappy Gunbuster

I love this show! I just finished watching it and it almost made me cry at the end. Has anyone else felt the same way? It was awesome though. Sure packs a punch into 6 episodes. I loved the old-school mechs that were in it. Deffinately one of my all-time favourites now!

Man, I've been wanting to pick up this title for a while, but I haven't come around to doing so I've heard that it is a classic anime made by, who else, the geniuses at Gainax

Gunbuster is an anime classic

What started off as a homage to the super robot shows of the seventies turned into something special. Evangelion owes this show alot.

It's almost as if they were directed by the same guy

I think that it's perfectly natural for a director to revisit familiar themes throughout his work. With Hideki Anno, it's exploring the psychological complexity inherent in all of us. He did it in Gunbuster, Evangelion, and Kare Kano as well.

I know they were both directed by Hideki Anno, as was Nadia but Evangelion still owese this show alot.

The red headed pilot (forgive me for forgetting her name) is jsut about an Asuak prototype, the trainer is very similar to gendo and noriko is shinji kinda.

I think 3 main characters being recycled is a tad lazy but recycled things are quite popular look at Final Fantasy.

Jung Freud you mean....?
And Noriko is like Shinji.....? I think Noriko has more spine....,

I love Gunbuster..., it pays homage to all the giant robot shows that I used to watch when I was a little kid...., & the main character is an anime otaku...,
Can't wait to see what the sequel is gonna be like...,

You know this is creepy..but after my last post i found gunbuster in a second hand shop on DVD for only 7

i'm up to episode4 now..i must say i'm getting into it alot more than i thought i would..it's like a cross between Plastic Little and macross. Plenty of fanservice and a plastic little style "best looking female characters bath scene" and Noriko is basically a tita clone, always whining about her father's death and dedicated to her job.

And now i finally know what the gainax bounce is all about^^ where was teh gainax bounce during evangellion?

One DVD, six episodes, pure bliss. I just saw it and I need to say. Gunbuster is simply amazing. I can't really bring the feeling home...
