Giant Robo: 7 episodes.
Yeah I agree its a great series, but I said 6 episodes or less , I've emailed manga and they said they are releasing it on DVD

Aa! Megami-sama is one of the best animes I have ever seen. Belldandy ^_^ ! Eh... I know it's way past your six episode limit, but I think that Generator Gawl deserves to be mentioned. Booyaka.

Short series that I've enjoyed..,

Gunbuster - Gainax's homage to the 70's giant robot genre..., I love it..,
Macross Plus - my fave Macross show..., I love the story, the music, & the characters.., the mecha are just a bonus..,
Dragon Half - a very silly SD/Chibi parody of the D&D genre.., pity it was only two episodes long..,
Tatakae!! Iczer-1 - I'm not sure why I love this old show so much.., as it's very light on plot..., I just do...,

Just to give you a frame of reference Fiend... Giant Robo was announced by Manga to be coming out on DVD BEFORE Death and Rebirth. And you know how long those took/are taking...

This is summer was the 3rd year in a row they have annouced Giant Robo (and Gunbuster for that matter) will be out NEXT Summer.

I suspect Gunbuster 2 will be shown in Japan, licensed by ADV, and released worldwide on DVD before Mungle gets either of those titles out on DVD.

So far i've enjoyed
FLCL, Goldenboy, Macross Plus, Read or Die and Darkstalkers revenge(Night Warriors)
I loved Vampire Princess Miyu OVA which was only 4 episodes long. The Sci-Fi boards gave it an A+ for the best short anime. I'd also think that the Record of Lodoss War OVA and the Bubblegum Crisis OVA's were spectacular. Those 2 are the better versions of their tv wanabees...

In order:

Ah My Goddess
Battle Angel
Kite
Samurai X
Vampire Princess Miyu

...haha. Coincidentally, it's also in alphabetical order.

Samurai X OVAs and Princess Mononoke.

But Princess Mononoke wasn't a series it was a movie.

Gundam 08th team was only 11 episodes long *12 if you count the awful crappy last episode which did'nt get shown on japaneese dvd or adult swim"

It has to be the best gundam i've seen yet, it had a intresting romance story, up to date meccha war story, tie-in nostalgia with the original and the characters were great aswell.

Well... Two of the three I'd recommend are already posted...

Which are...

*Vampire Princess Miyu OVA... (*Looks at Avatar* She's so cute!) The art in this series is absolutely beautiful. The OVA just basically covers what happened to Miyu and her companion, Larva (so bishie ). It tells you how they became what they are. It's a nice OVA. (If you watch and like, you might want to check out the series eventually, it's good, what I've seen of it anyway.)

And...

*Rurouni Kenshin OVA... Beautiful art as well... *find's Shax's avatar* Oh he's so pretty. ...Aaaanyway. This is one of the TWO animes to actually cause me to cry (Mononoke Hime got me with the music, not the story). It has blood, love, betrayal, death, a bishie {}, and much more.

...The other one I'd recommend is more than 6 episodes... Actually it's something like... 16... I forget exactly, but it's only on 4 DVDs...

And that anime, is Dual. It's not a bad mecha anime, and it's made by the creator of Tenchi Muyo!, so it has comedy. ^_^
