Arrow What's Your Opinion on Spriggan?

Though I haven't watched it yet, (leaving for work before the movie would be over if I started now), I just bought Spriggan from my local video store. It was used and returned, but in excellent condition (not a scratch on the DVD!).

I was just wondering what others thought of it. I'll probably read these responses after I watch it, but I'm just curious...

Does anyone even know about it? (ADV Films).

I thought is was a good show. The story was interesting enough and the battles were pretty good. It is one of those shows I can only watch once or twice though, after you have seen it it is not as appealing as it once was unlike some other movies/shows. Even though, it is a good buy and a good movie.

As Das said it really is only a one off movie, watch it the first time yeah its great, second ohh good and so on.

I enjoyed the fight scenes, especially Fatman vs Yu(i think thats the name if the Japanese spriggan)

The ending left it open for a sequel with McDougal talking about other arks.

Well, I watched the first half (which was awesome). I really liked the animation and that chase scene in the city was INCREDIBLE. But, I had to get back to work on my own anime. I've got deadlines, y'know!

Spriggan was endlessly hyped by ADV, who took over a friggin' year to release it. I watched a fansub a long time ago and was a little disappointed. As an action movie, it rocks and does its job. However, it tried a little too hard to delve into some "deep" issues and the effort ended up lessening the fun of the movie. If I had the extra money, I'd probably get the DVD. The action was pretty amazing. I just expected more from the people behind it. I was also bought by the hype.

This is an anime movie, so it belongs in the Anime Movies/DVD forum.

It was alright. Lots of hype that it didn't deliver. In some cases I think I was watching DBZ.

It was a good movie. The action was awesome, of course, it being an action movie... with the street scene being one of the most impressive action scenes I've seen in awhile... of course, I haven't watched the movie in awhile, but that was my first impression.

They did spend a lot of time trying to make it a "thinky" movie, but whenever they did that, I just rolled my eyes and tuned it out... the deep stuff was getting in the way of the action.... If you want to see coherent thought-provoking stuff, I'd turn somewhere else.

I saw it the other day, it was on UK Sci-Fi channel. It really didn't interest me, I only realy 1/2 wathed it cos of it. I wouldn't buy it, but them I am more into Mech(Gundam) anime or cute girl anime(Oh My Goddess) or 1 which combines the 2(Neon Genesis Evangelion)

I don't know if there is a manga of Spriggan, but it seemed to me like they tried to cram too much info into it, I think it would have been better maybe an OVA or something like that.

That was very perceptive of you, NeneMaxwell195... it *is* actually based off a manga.

I thought it was ok. Not that great but entertaining none-the-less.
