Is Jun the Son that Admiral Misumaru (Yurika's Dad) never had???

Or at least Vice Versa. Because it seems that Admiral Misumaru really shines to Jun and Jun shines to Admiral Misumaru. Because when Jun was about to get his Nano Machine Treatment, Admiral Misumaru was begging him not to get it. Almost like he didn't want his son to go out into danger. He seems to treat Jun like a Son and treats Yurika like a Sex Object.

But Jun might be using Admiral Misumaru to gets what he wants. If he acts like a Son to the Old Admiral, then it sucks in the father to approve of him dating Yurika. If you can win over the father, then you can win over the girl. But he also might be doing it for his career. This way he will always be close to promotion. So weather he's trying to get close to his daughter or a higher up position, he's in a Win/Win situation in Admiral Misumaru eyes.

i always thought that Jun thought of Admiral Misumaru as a father figure. and Admiral Misumaru thought of Jun as his daughters semi-boyfriend.

but dont forget that Jun's underlying "what a sook" nature will kick in and he'll be refused promotion again...

Jun is really the perfect 2nd-in-command, though. He's obedient, does actually get things done, and is capable in the abscence of the captain, but cannot cope with long-term command.

So I actually would not promote him past his current rank.. he's more valuable as a good lieutenant than as a poor commander.

Drawing on from DNA's post perhaps Admiral Misumaru like Jun better because he is more manipulative then Yurika

he's a good young officer with a carrer in front of him, so why would misamaru want him to get killed easily as a pilot? since earth weapons had little effect on the alien invaders so pilots in the UEAF must have been little more than delaying cannon fodder.

Like Jun Said: The Earth military are only interested in fighting a war - not doing what's best for the planet.

Hence the scene where Admiral Misumaru tries to talk Jun out of getting the Nano-injection
