Well, I haven't watched tons of anime yet so I don't really remember a whole lot of which openings/endings I've seen did stick out. I've been playing anime music on web radio lately, but that doesn't help a ton with this question. I'll say this though, the Outlaw Star opening song "Through the Night" really caught my attention right away. Ones in general I'd consider catchy tend to be vocal tunes that make me want to sing along or at least learn the words. There are quite a few of them, but the Outlaw Star one is the only one I can think of right now that really hit me as a cool song the first time I heard it. Maybe I'll be able to post more later. *shrug*

Catchy? Freckles, Chobits, Hikaru no Go's Get Over.

But of those, I only really like is Get Over... Duvet's full version is also a *great* song.

I first saw Evangelion and SMJ on Locomotion while in Venezuela, both were being played in languages other than English. Their openings were so cool that I researched them and started buying them in the States, so before I even knew what the shows were about the openings drew me in. The Big O and Outlaw Star also have swell openings.

Is the song you're talking about Let Me Be With You, orochi X? If so, then I think I agree with you. It is a kind of cute, catchy song, but I think it would get kind of annoying if you heard it too many times. I've heard it on some web radio station a number of times and it is kind of cute, but for some reason it always stands out to me in the "that song again?" kind of way even if it hasn't been played in a long time. *shrug* Oh, my other comment about catchy tunes being vocals wasn't meant to exclude instrumentals. There are some instrumental songs I've heard that are pretty cool, too. Lyrics tend to help though by giving you something to latch on to, the repeated chorus for example.

Too true...

Okay, I've heard a lot of people say that they don't like this song, but I've gotten hooked on Stray, the opening from Wolf's Rain. It's pretty catchy, and Steve Conte is a good singer....

I'd say that the Openings for Oh! My Goddess, Excel Saga, Cowboy Bebop, Lain, and Love Hina are. As for endings, I really liked the Inuyasha 1st ending song, Oh! My Goddess, and Cowboy Bebop.
