Thumbs up AniMatrix

Got this from http://slashdot.org :

Warner Brothers Announce The Matrix: Special Edit

Kartik3 writes "IGN.com is reporting that Warner Bros. is releasing a 2-disc special edition DVD of The Matrix (loaded with extras) on April 29th and The Animatrix (An Anime series set in the world of the Matrix) DVD on June 3rd." If Animatrix is half as cool as the promo comic that was given out at the Matrix opening, I'll like it.

Hope this is interesting.

Hmm, the preview looks amazing! Was this animated in America? So is it technically "anime" (from Japan) or in the anime-style? Either way it looks really cool. I guess Matrix folks are getting back to the anime roots that inspired them.

Hmm... I guess it's been long enough for another thread about the Animatrix to pop up...

It's so going to rule.

From the Matrix homepage :

[Q]THE ANIMATRIX represents more than three years of collaboration between the Wachowski Brothers and animation artists at studios in Japan, Korea, and the U.S.[/Q]

I like the sword in the one still shot from the Madhouse one.

It looks Soshu school with the nice notare hamon and the big o-kissaki.

Prepare to hyperventilate some more FayeFayeV. Yoshiaki Kawajiri, who was director on Ninja Scroll, X the TV series, and Wicked City, will be directing some of the episodes

Serious talent.

I hope it rivals the live-action version.

I've been anticipating this for some time now. The first internet short (of 8), The Second Resistance pt. 1, comes out on 2/4/03, which technically for me is TODAY, but they haven't updated yet.

This first short is the one done by Studio 4C, Tokyo, written by the Wachowski brothers, and directed by Mahiro Maeda as noted in an earlier post.

booya

I'm salivating already.

EDIT: The only theatre short will be done by Square USA, written by the Wachowski brothers, and directed by Andy Jones. It's titled Final Flight of the Osiris. This will be released on 3/21/03 along with the Dreamcatcher movie.
