Xenosaga discussion

I borrowed the game from a friend two days ago, and ive been playing constantly... Seriously, ive never been so addicted to anything before.
The only downfall is that im apparently almost finished with it... which means its ------- short as hell. Either way, ive already been drawing a ton of paralells to Xenogears, which i would like to bring up here.

Ive read that the makers say Xenosaga is not in the same series as Gears... But undoubtedly they are in the same universe, there are just too many similarities for them not to be.

First of all... Kos-Mos:

When your group is in the enchepelon dive, the 'password' Shion uses to have Kos-Mos bring them back to reality is 'ye shall be as gods'... thats the impression i got at least, unless Shion said the phrase for absolutely no reason.
So of course, thats the same phrase that appears on the Eldridges screen in Xenogears right before Dues ----- ---- up. I cant remember how long ago Dues was created as the ultimate weapon, but even such a subtle connection leads me to believe that Kos-Mos is in some way connected. Like, maybe she is an actual component... a prototype for what will later become dues.

Wilhelm:

This is a long shot, but he looks like a slightly younger Ramsus, doesnt he? Ramsus is a clone of Emperor Cain. Hmmm... Wilhelm = Cain?
The only problem (i guess its a pretty big problem) with that theory is that Cain and the Gazel ministry were born after the eldridge crash. At least thats what i remember. Either way, the part im at makes it pretty clear that Wilhelm is a mysterious dude with ulterior motives... Not to be considered a 'good guy' im assuming. If the game is close to ending though, i dont see how they will resolve anything.

"Nephelim" and Zohar:

Zohar is the big reoccurring theme in the Xeno games. Kind of like the black monolith in 2001: a space odyssey.
The question is, has the wave existence been contained in Zohar yet. I guess the intro to Xenosaga could be Zohar opening a channel to the alternate plain of reality and trapping the wave existence. But i dont know. I also get the impression that the 'big bad guys' goal will be to access this other plain of reality... but that may be too much like Krelian in Xenogears. Somehow it seems that the Gnosis, Lost Jeruselum, the dissapearing planet, and the Miltian Conflict will be tied together by it, though. But how... arghh im going to try and beat it.
Oh yea, and Nephelim... the core of Zohar, im assuming. In Xenogears they said that the 'mother' split into two forms, being Miang and Elly. So I guess Nephelim is the manifestation of Zohar pre-split.

Well you shouldn't believe everything you read my friend...especially since my roomate has already played through the entire game in 39 hours. I was as surprised and pissed as you all are probably reading this, especially after how long Xenogears was.

I am not sure how many of the mini games and such stuff he did but he took 60 hours to finish FFX so I'll just have to see how long it takes me to beat it.

Well so does he. It took him between 60 and 70 hours to beat FFX which could easily be finished in about 40-50 hours. But it really doesnt matter Xenosaga still a fun game.

Ok... i beat the game. I was at around 43 hours.

One could probably spend 80 hours playing it, but the game at its core is very short... as far as how many events take place and how many places you go, not much happens. Buuut, i feel a lot better about its brevity after seeing the end.

So now i believe the creators arent just trying to decieve us all when they say Xenosaga is not in the same series as Xenogears. Episode 2 will follow directly after Episode 1... im pretty damn sure of that.
Im a little worried about the time line of the series though. At the end of the game, we see Abel (im assuming its Abel at least) who must be on Second Miltia, because hes looking up as the Elsa enters the planets atmosphere. We also see Shions Uzukis brother, who looks a whole lot like Citan...

Anyway, my guess is that the Xenosaga series will end with the Eldridge destruction... If we have already seen Abel as a youngin in episode 1, that means not that much time can pass between now and the Eldridge incident. Which also means Dues should probably already be around...

One possibility... if you have finished Xenosaga, remember that planet that was destroyed, or dissapeared? I cant think of its name... starts with an A. Eitherway, the planets dissapearance could have been the result of the Yabeh Weapons System testing... Heres some info:

Quote:
Yabeh Weapons System

It is said to have been created by the humans during the Cosmos War. The Yabeh system's main component was called Deus and its power source was the Zohar Modifier. During the initial test of the system Deus went out of control and connected to a higher dimension to attain more power. The resulting connection pulled the Wave Existence from the higher dimension and trapped it inside the Zohar Modifier. The power it got for the Wave Existence was too much and Deus went out of control and destroyed a colony planet before it shut down. The war ship Eldridge was sent to the planet to colled the system and recover any surviors that were left.
Abel was one of the survivors... I think this event happens right before Xenogears intro though, where the Eldridge is taking Dues to a new location... So its a bit unstable as it is.
Guess we will just have to wait and see.
