Serial EXPERIMENTS Lain

Simple Question:
Why is it Serial Experiments Lain not Serial Experiment Lain? Does it have something to do with the KIDS Experiments? If not then what doesn't the title mean???

I would guess that it is Experiment's' for the reason being more than one endeavor was made. The Anime was one experiment and the PS Game was another, i think they coincided with each other, hence the Serial. Thus, Serial Experiments Lain.

My opinion is that Lain was part of a larger series of experiments that culminated in her development. This would partially explain the "Present Day, Present Time" opening bits we see and the repetition of the opening animation. It would be a metaphor for a renewal of the experiments, but also a continuance of what came before. Did that make any sense? I think I need to watch the anime again...

Actually, it is a not-so-common correct translations.

From Lain's perspective, there were several experiments where she learned things.

Especially when she messed with the space-time continium from time-to-time and wasn't always happy with the results.
