I saw the Australian premiere on Saturday and everyone seemed to get a buzz out of it.

People were laughing, and the romantic storyline was very nice

I heard it wasn't so great (by Miyazaki standards).

I'd say it's very much like Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, but with a Western-style feel. Specifically, the London Blitz (although one reviewer sees it as the firebombing of Tokyo).

So if you liked Spirited Away, you might like this.

I saw it the day it came out and I thought it was okay, although miyazaki has done better in the past. sometimes it would get confusing because it seemed to jump from one thing to another but it was overall it was a good movie.

This was a fun movie. Would I put it in my top 5 Miyazaki films of all time? Probably not but I would say that it is worth recommending to people. I thought that the animation on the castle was terrific. It reminded me of something that Terry Gilliam might have animated on Monty Python only less surreal.

I saw it at the local theater. It was better than expected. One review said it was similar to Spirited Away, but it different from that by alot.

Argh. I'm so pissed that I missed seeing this in theaters. Now I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD, and I've heard that it won't come out until Spring 2006. Can the fates really be so cruel?!

Nah it's not that at all. It's just that God hates Miyazaki fans that's all.

I saw Howl's Moving Castle in the cinema today (I managed to catch the last showing before the cinema removed it from their schedules).., I was a bit reticent as a lot of online reviews said that it wasn't very good (by Miyazaki's standards) but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised & I enjoyed it a great deal.., it was also cool to see an anime in the cinema as this is only the second anime I've seen in a movie theatre, this first being Akira way back in 1989...,

Yes, it did't rival Nausicaa, but even a so-so Miyazaki movie is still better than the best put out by many others.

Saw a preview screening some weeks ago, had me bawling at the end. What is this power Miyazaki holds over me?

I absolutly loved this movie! oh gosh makes me sigh... *sigh* i was a little disapointed with the story line, could of been polished up a little more but other than that i was thouroughly impressed! the animation was excellent!!!

Hmm...just found out that Howl's Moving Castle is eligible for Oscar nomimnation. Here's it's competition:

* Chicken Little
* Valiant
* Hoodwinked!
* Robots
* Madagascar
* Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
* Steamboy
* Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
* Gulliver's Travel

Out of this group, only a maximum of 3 can be nominated for an Oscar. Nominations takes place January 31.

I say that the chances of it get nominated are unlikely though. I believe that it will be Robots, Madagascar, and Chicken Little.
