Heroes in a Half Shell......

Anyone else heard about this?

Quote:
THE Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to return to the big screen after a 14-year break in a lavish new computer-generated movie, according to industry press.

The new movie, featuring state-of-the-art computer-generated animation (CGI), was set for release in early 2007, industry bible Daily Variety said.

In their first deal since their celebrated divorce from Walt Disney Co, Hollywood independent movie magnates Harvey and Bob Weinstein have agreed to distribute the film for Warner Bros studios.

Warner Bros Pictures president Jeff Robinov told Variety: "We think that a new generation of kids will love discovering Turtles, especially supported by the enthusiasm of fans of the original movies, comicbooks and TV shows."

The comic book-inspired stories of four humanoid fighting turtles caused a worldwide sensation when they were adapted for television in the late 1980s before hitting the big screen in 1990.

But the lucrative franchise has laid dormant since the third in the trilogy of live action films, which together grossed a total of more than $US256 million ($340m) in North America, was released in 1993.

The new Turtles movie, which will be far grittier than the original films, will be aimed at adults and youngsters under parent supervision.

The film will be written and directed by animation guru Kevin Munroe, who is developing the screenplay in consultation with the original comic book co-creator Peter Laird.

The CGI animation will be created at Imagi in Hong Kong.
I really enjpyed the original movies and the cartoon was one of my favorite agter-school shows. I'd be interested in seeing how this new movie develops.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used to be my favorite. I'm also looking forward to this.

Sounds good, this will probably spark some more TMNT games, or a revival of the classics. They should port all the old console TMNT games and release them together or something. But then I'd have to get a GameCube..

In the first post it sounds as if it is going to based on the all red wearing TMNT comic more than the recent stuff.

Leonardo

I loved the Ninja Turtles as a kid. And I think I watched the first movie about 50 times. But I doubt that a new movie will be aimed at adults. As much as I'd like to see it happen, I just know that it won't. This is because of merchandising. They can milk the Ninja Turtles, but if it was an adult movie, then kiddies can't bug their parents. But you never know it might be violent and cool.

Violence is always cool to see. Sometimes it can be funny and sometimes it's serious violence.

Seems we have some fans, I found the first comic in full, it's on the mirage website so I'm guessing it's safe to post here.

The new TMNT Tv series was fine at first as it reflected the time and place, but after Shredder... the whole intergalactic (time) travel throws the thing of balance. Probably doesnt do much justice for the old fans.
