What shall I use for web graphics editing?

Hi Everybody!
We'd like to open a new department for web site design, but I know nothing about PRO graphics software. Can you tell me what software to choose and what it will cost me?

There's the Gimp. It has about the same functionality as the professional suits ( Photoshop and Painshop Pro ), but it's free.

If this is for a company, you can get a business license for Photoshop and it would allow for distribution among multiple computers.

Or you could buy the wholesale version for roughly $80. Just know that it won't come with a manual.
