Red face ONly watched the 1st show so far but I want the WHOLE THING

Hey guys, I thought this woudl be a good series for action, deep content, & excellent 2d/3d Graphics.

However, after watching the 1st show, I quickly figured out that the show & the ending was going to be horrific. I mean -- heart breaking -- as well as the usual Japanese "hopeless" way of looking @ life. This is REALLY the darker side of Japanese culture. They are so wrapped up in FATE and not being in control - absolute control - & this series shows that side of Japanese culture. Not pretty but intriguing, dark, depressing, hopeless. Ouch.

Am I wrong? I'm only basing my ideas on the 1st show & the other similar Anime, like X and Samurai X, plus a few others.

We must admit, this ain't Hollywood & not Hollywood endings to be expected - but that makes it tough but good.

Gottcha

Alright, I'll be happy to discuss it more after watching the whole thing. Right now I'm trying to get it via http://www.meganimedvd.com/ so that I can buy the box set! The discussions will flow....

I've seen the first four discs and I must say I'm pretty impressed. And yes, its got that whole fatalistic Japanese point of view.

That said, I was reading on this one site that apparently there's a live action movie that's pretty good which is apparently based on the same novel that under pins Basilisk.

Give it a read, there's also a trailer link to if you're interested:

The Live movie is called shinobi. Its decent, the anime was better. There are many difference's in the ninjas powers.

I watched the whole series. I definately loved it! The atmosphere of the anime was very dark. Definately a "mature" anime. Although the ending was a bit sad, I though it was the best way possible that it could've ended. (Don't want to spoil anything for those watching now)
